(Stockholm Beer Festival 2007) Bottle. Somewhat hazy golden color, creamy offwhite head. Malty aroma, vanilla, creamy notes and some toffee. Malty, nutty flavor, chocolate notes a bit roasted and with some hops.

(Bottle, Stockholm Beer Festival, 22 Sep 2007) Amber colour with brief off-white head. Malty, aromatic nose with spicy notes of dark fruit, dried apricots and raisins. Malty, clean taste with dried fruit, apricots and raisins. Clean and delicate malt character with notes of spicy hops lingering towards the end. Nice example of kellerbier.

12oz bottle purchased from the brewery. Pours a lovely cloudy gold. Decent lagery aroma. Flavour is really quite nice. The taste starts off nice and full, leading to some nice malts in the aftertaste. I am rather impressed with this beer. This was my first kellerbier, and it’s led me to seek out other examples.

Light amber color, small beige head. Malty, lightly sweetish nose. Malty flavor too with tobacco flavors. Hoppy aftertaste. Not very kellerbier-like.

Bottled at Stockholm Beer Festival. Lightly hazy deep golden. Buttery aroma. Dryish and grassy with rounded mouthfeel. Well hopped, yet yeast and bready malt gets a chance to come through. Salty bitter finish. An impressive take on a difficult style.

100 Barrel Series ~ session 13

9/12/2007: Harpoon Kellerbier produces a beautiful pour. It is a hazy orange-amber color, with a large and pillowy off-white head that never completely dissapears and leaves decent foamy lacing. The aroma is sharp and grassy at first, then it softens and some pale sweet malts with a touch of caramel is noticeable. The flavor is toasty, bready malt with a pleasing earthy quality and a balanced, spicy hop, and moderately bitter and dry finish. It is quite hoppy for a lager, but still very good! This beer has a medium body and is a bit chewy, but fits well with the other characteristics of the beer. I really enjoyed this offering from Harpoon and hope that their future "100 Barrel" beers are just as good if not better!

1 pint, 6 fl. oz bottle (alcohol by volume 5.2%, ibu 45, og 14) from Noonan’s in Hamilton, Ohio. Rating #96 for this beer...
