bottle. Aroma: Light honey, grassy, a touch of floral, and a nice biscuity pilsener-like aroma. Appearance: Dark amber bordering on copperish and very hazy. Some floaties spotted. Off-white head was full and meringue-ish, and lingered for quite a while. Decent lacing. Flavor: Good hop forward flavor, but not aggressively so. Spicy, grassy, and floral hop flavors with a hint of earthiness. Malt supports everyhting pretty well. Nice bready flavor with some good honey sweetness. Palate: Medium bodied. Moderate carbonation. Finish was dry and left a faint chalky feeling in my mouth. Overall: To my knowledge, this is my first tasting of this style, and it was a good one. Good solid hoppiness was kept in check by the malt. A good clean bitterness throughout, but didn’t linger after the finish. Although I drank this alone, I think it would be great with food.

21.05.06 Jimmack Invitational ’06 I was very glad to have had the chance to try this at a gathering, rather than explore a whole bottle myself. These 100 barrel beers have been pretty hit-or-miss for me. This one is dark golden, darker than expected, with obvious carbonation and a lingering but thin whtie head. Pretzelish in it’s maltiness, it’s more pronounced and bready than expected right off the bat. Aromas add a bit of dms as it comes to temp, and that’s a shame because it’s really nice to sniff otherwise. Bit mineral throughout and firmly hoppy, although not really traditionally so (I don’t think). This is a love-hate beer, and I just can’t decide which it is.

Enjoyed with friends whilsr eating Porkchops and corn on th ecob from the grill. All I can say is this was a whole lot better than some IPA’s I have had. Lots of wonderful hops from this. Refreshingly delightful. Thanks to Zathrus13 for this beer in a trade that proved to me the goodness of people.

I generally don’t expect much from Harpoon, but this could change my thinking. Pours a huge head, which stuck around like meringue for quite some time. Hops are up front in the flavor, but not overpowering, they are balanced nicely some light maltiness. Flavors are subtle, a more earthy/musty hop flavor predominates. Finish is clean, and abrupt; once you swallow, almost all of the flavor just disappears. Pleasing, and certainly my favorite interpretation of the lager so far.

Best I’ve had from Harpoon. Beautfiul cloudy orange with early foam from the bottle and a huge huge head. Nose of noble hops. Taste of sweet malt and floral hops but with great bitterness. Long bitter finish. Quite drinkable, quite refreshing, wonderful with a roast beef sandwich after a hot afternoon on a golf course. // Same nose, appearance, finish. But this time with a slight off-putting herbal grassy flavors as well.

22oz. bomber: When this one open a large amount of foam started rising out of the top. Needless to say, there was a huge head on this one. It had a bit of staying power and left a fair amount of lacing. The beer itself is a hazy, lighter amber color. There is a bit of a grassy hop aroma to this one. The taste is a bit dry and biscuity. Fairly well balanced, with a smoothness to it. A pretty decent brew.

Tasting at Immy’s. From bomber. Pours a light orange with off white head. A lightly hopped, sweet malt nose followed by much the same flavor and a sharp bitter finish.

Bottle. Pours a hazy copper color with a pretty long-lasting tannish head. Malt and crackers on the nose. Flavor is caramel and hops. Dryness is maintained throughout. I wasn’t expecting any hop bitterness, so that was unusal. Average at best.
