Commercial Description:
This full, smooth wheat ale is warming and delicious. It’s mildly hopped to let the distinct flavor and aroma of real VT maple syrup take the lead. The maple sweetness and body that blankets this velvety amber beer showcases one of New Englands most beloved traditions. Brewed with wheat malt, pale malt and caramel malt. The pure maple syrup used in this beer came from two syrup makers in the Green Mountain State. The Baker Family in East Dummerston has been boiling maple sugar since the 1950s. Dave Gavett also provided syrup from his Scrag Mountain Sugar House in Waitsfield. John’s recipe, along with top quality syrup from these two Vermont maple sugar operations, resulted in a crisp wheat ale that is warming and delicious. It is mildly hopped to profile the distinct aroma and flavor of real Vermont Maple Syrup. Hopped with Willamette. Brewed by John Baker

Bottle courtesy of Jkwalking05. Clear orange pour. Weak scents. Smells sweet but nothing more. Taste is weak but has a small Lifesavers flavor. Sweet fruit but far too subtle.

Bottle thanks to Jkwalking05. Pours with a clear gold body and a white head. Aroma of banana bread, nuts and honey. Taste is wheat with a bit of bitterness and some honey. Thin and dry mouthfeel.

Pours very clear light amber with a fizzy disappearing head. Aroma is like a banana laffy-taffy™ and not much else. Taste is light wheat, not much spice, nothing unpleasent but weak overall. Light body, bready finish with maple.

Pours a lasting ring of beige head with a golden amber body. Toffee and floral aromas. Same flavor but with a touch of maple that leads to a sweet and floral finish.

Bottle shared with the barrios, scottyp, curly. Pours a deep clear golden orange amber with fair wispy khaki head. Nose has some alcohol heat upfront, with some lavender and other floral perfumy notes. Flavor is astringent, and has a sever alcohol estery bite, despite the relatively low abv. Not really all that enjoyable. Kinda like a bad dunkel wiezen.

Bomber from the Sam’s in Downer’s Grove, Illinois: This poured a clear amber body with a creamy egg-shell head. No lace. It had the aroma of a caramel apple drizzled with maple syrup and dipped in soft nuts. That was the flavor, too, except that the maple disappeared until near the end. Pretty dull, over all.

22oz bottle 9/11/09 1st rating ever on Anniversary of 9/11 Colleagues on Flts.11 & 77 RIP(Sam’s Wine & Spirits)-Pours a clear amber with a big off white head. Aroma of faint banana and maple. Taste of banana, nut, and some maple on the back end. This light to medium bodied brew does not show much of the maple they talk about. Was expecting more.
