Commercial Description:
This full, smooth wheat ale is warming and delicious. It’s mildly hopped to let the distinct flavor and aroma of real VT maple syrup take the lead. The maple sweetness and body that blankets this velvety amber beer showcases one of New Englands most beloved traditions. Brewed with wheat malt, pale malt and caramel malt. The pure maple syrup used in this beer came from two syrup makers in the Green Mountain State. The Baker Family in East Dummerston has been boiling maple sugar since the 1950s. Dave Gavett also provided syrup from his Scrag Mountain Sugar House in Waitsfield. John’s recipe, along with top quality syrup from these two Vermont maple sugar operations, resulted in a crisp wheat ale that is warming and delicious. It is mildly hopped to profile the distinct aroma and flavor of real Vermont Maple Syrup. Hopped with Willamette. Brewed by John Baker

Bottle shared by robert at SL. After drinking some killer DIPA and stouts it isnt fair to rate this beer, but I thought it held its own compared to some of the big boys. Light orange in color. Sweet maple aroma and taste. Very easy to drink. Overall a will have to pick up this beer again to give it chance. Still a nice session beer.

22ox bottle pour. Very disappointing from Harpoon. A slightly dark wheat beer- I’d like to call it a "whole grain wheat" beer, somehow. Maple flavours almost non existent, not even a lingering sweetness to "fake the flavour". Wouldn’t buy again, but maybe my standards were too high thanks to "maple" in the title.

Draft at the local with a sub-par turkey sammich. Greenish amber in the glass. Heas diminishes to film but is consistent until the end. Body is Medium and finishes light. First touch of tounge is sweet maltiness in which the maple syrup tones emerge. A pleasant smokiness enters the scent and lingers until a sweet gently hoppy finish prevails. Wheatiness is absorbed by the rest of the gooings on and is faintly noticable. A pleasant pint that overcame the sub-par grub.

Bomber. Clear amber with a huge yellowish head. Sweet nose, sugary and wheaty, some lemon. No maple detected in the nose. Sweet flavors of maple and caramel, some earth and something herbal. Body is somewhat thick and sticky, nice webby lace. Not bad. If I hadn’t read the label, I wouldn’t have pegged this as a wheat or maple beer.

Nose is pungently sweet, with a sour and bitter finish, much like a Miller Lite or Bud Lite. Appearance is a golden, redish-amber color. Taste is bitter on the palate - the sweetness of the maple syrup is quickly overpowered by the flatness of the beer and bitterness of the aftertaste.

amber brown. very mellow nose, clean, crisp...malty and sweet. not a very "wheaty" wheat brew... mellow crisp light sweet and caramel malt taste at first, with a little tanginess and a little maple flavor coming after you swallow.

22 oz bomber. Pours a clear cola brown with a 1/2" off white head. Nose is mild malt and grain. Palate is average in body with moderate carbonation. Flavor is all grains with some sweet malt. Maybe just a tiny, miniscul, hint of maple. A bit of a disappointment. I expect better things from Harpoon, especially their 100 Barrel Series.

Pours to an amber brown with a reasonably sized head. Sweet aroma. Very much a simple wheat beer with a hint of maple. Thin, sweet. That’s all. I keep wanting to like the Harpoon 100 barrel series and might continue to buy it but this one isn’t a winner.
