Commercial Description:
This full, smooth wheat ale is warming and delicious. It’s mildly hopped to let the distinct flavor and aroma of real VT maple syrup take the lead. The maple sweetness and body that blankets this velvety amber beer showcases one of New Englands most beloved traditions. Brewed with wheat malt, pale malt and caramel malt. The pure maple syrup used in this beer came from two syrup makers in the Green Mountain State. The Baker Family in East Dummerston has been boiling maple sugar since the 1950s. Dave Gavett also provided syrup from his Scrag Mountain Sugar House in Waitsfield. John’s recipe, along with top quality syrup from these two Vermont maple sugar operations, resulted in a crisp wheat ale that is warming and delicious. It is mildly hopped to profile the distinct aroma and flavor of real Vermont Maple Syrup. Hopped with Willamette. Brewed by John Baker

I love maple syrup so I naturally love this brew. Could have used more maple flavor but still pretty tasty.

On tap @ Coles, Buffalo NY. Pours a burnt caramel color. Sweet aromas of caramel malts, mild spice & maple syrup. Taste is malty, some maple sweetness but not finding any of the wheat qualities. Some burnt caramel taste. Not bad but nice interesting attempt

(bottle - 22 oz) Clear amber color with a thick white head. Aroma is light and sweet with a little spice and a very light touch of maple to it. Flavor is malty and bready with a very light hint of bitter hops. The maple is almost non-existent, as is the wheat until the end. The wheat comes through at the finish and leaves that dry, grainy taste. Slightly disappointed in the lack of maple however.

pours a clear amber color with a thick white foamy head. nice retention and lacing. aroma is mildly spicy and yeasty with a touch of maple to it. flavor is of spicy hops and a bit of maltiness...bready. not much maple coming through though. mouthfeel is somewhat like a thin barleywine...not what i expected out of a wheat beer. not bad but not as tasty as i expected.

Tap at GingerMan: Pours a clear orange with a dense off-white head. Sweet aroma- no wheaty tartness- just lots of honey, light grains and tons of diacetyl. Very light fluffy palate. The flavor also has apparent diacetyl- astringent herbal notes are there mingling with the honeyish sweetness- cheap grain and peppery metallic hops follow into the back. Too buttery, pretty bad.

Bottle from Binny’s South Loop. Pours a orangey brown. Nose has some light woody/maple notes, mostly grain and wheat. Taste is pretty subdued, quite dry and finishes with a mellow maple note as well. Pretty easy drinking. Okay.

Tap at the brewery. Pours a clear woody light copper with a medium lasting head. Aroma is slightly sweet with maple hints, caramel malts and doughy almost crackery wheat malts. Flavor is a bi tthin but has a slight sugary honey and maple sweetness, and a hint of toffee, earth and herbal hops. Tangy and dry finish.
