Commercial Description:
The 27th offering of Harpoon’s 100 Barrel Series is Helles Blond Bock. This light amber beer has a bready aroma, creamy smooth mouthfeel, and a clean, lingering sweetness at the finish. Brewer Jaime Schier set out to create a beer with a robust body that was light in color and delicate on the palate. Jaime combined Pale Ale malt, Munich malt, and Black malt to give the beer its intense malt flavor. A German Bock yeast accentuates the malt character, yielding a slightly sweet aroma. German Noble hops add a touch of bitterness to balance the malt. This Helles Bock recipe comprised the most malt per 120-barrel batch ever brewed at Harpoon. Enjoy it on a warm, sunny day, with a big basket of pretzels and mustard. This German style bock balances bready malt sweetness with delicate hop bitterness; light-bodied, clean and satisfying. ibu: 30 og: 17

Bottle from Total Wine, Wilmington. Poured a light and more amber color than I had anticipated, nice whtie colored head sat on top. The lacing was weak. The aroma was bready, grassy, straw, lightly fruity. The flavor was full malt, slightly sweet, gently hopped, mouthfull of bread and some caramel, toasty notes along with some earthy grass and straw. Mouthfeel was light to moderate in carbonation, pretty full malty base, though. Refreshing "big beer" on a Summer day.

On tap at Tyler’s, Durham, with durhambeer. Surprised to enjoy a beer in this style during the dank Southern heat, but it was flavorful and refreshing. Deep honey-colored pour with a pretty sizable head. Fulsome bready notes in the nose, a sort of organic and slightly tart aroma that bodes well. Nice mouthfeel enhances things, and it’s thankfully not too sweet. Instead, you get a brew that’s got light fruity additions to the crisp, and mostly clean flavors. Pretty good.

Very refreshing. Aroma has alcohol, subtle hops and sweetness. (I know sweetness is not a smell, but this smells sweet.) The taste is actually much mellower than expected, based on the alcohol smell. Very clean and crisp, great mouth feel, with some definite sweetness. Great cream-colored head on the golden, light copper colored beer.

Served in a Harpoon glass at Tyler’s, this was a beaut. Pours clear light orange with big white head. Smells bready and subtly fruity. Some mild hops and just lovely bread aromas. Not overly sweet. Light palate... surprised that it was 7.4%. I really liked this beer.

Bomber: Pours a clear golden color with a thin white head, aroma has lemons, bread, and light earth. Medium bodied with ample carbonation, slick mouthfeel, starts and ends lightly sweet with a sweet aftertaste and some alcohol notes.

On Draft at the Brewery during my sister’s graduation weekend. Pours clear, dark gold. Aroma is fresh hop. Taste is smooth, sweet, well balanced - and not a single trace of alcohol.

Bottle. Pours clear golden orange with an off white head. Bready sweet malt aroma with a earthy/floral hop notes. The flavor has bready, toasty malts, with herbal, earthy and floral hop notes. A sweeter note of fruit/honey is present throughout. Just a touch of alcohol is noticeable. Pretty good.

Mmm this is good. Smells good, looks good, tastes good. A bit creamy on the mouthfeel. Easy drinking for a high alcohol beer.
