Commercial Description:
Currently Thom’s Olde Ale is Harpoon Ale, our first beer.

The first in the Harpoon family of beers, our ale is a light amber in color, medium bodied, and well balanced. The slightly fruity aroma is from Harpoon’s special yeast.

Bottle: Light malty fruit aroma. Pours a transparent amber with a small white head that is gone somewhat quickly. Initial taste is lightly malty. The finish is kind of a watery caramel, metallic, and lightly hoppy. Can’t say I enjoyed this one all that much.

Bottle @ brewery. Light gold with a smallish head. Aroma of light fruit and dried leaves. Taste is malty like every other freakin VT beer.

Clear amber body, thin off-white head. Tangy, almost sour body with little going on; I pick up some nutty flavors, a hint of fruit and maybe a bit of toast but not much else. Has a slight hops bitterness that persists through the sip. This is pretty dull.

Color is a clear and coppery hue, and a smallish head. Aroma is malty, soft, with hints of caramel and nuts. Taste is clean and well-behaved, goes down ultra-smooth. But the finish is far too short, and carbonation seems high. Seems to fit the bill for an easy, inoffensive session ale, on par with Pete’s Wicked, or something similar. Not to my particular taste.

Poured a nice clean amber shade with a moderate white head. Aroma was nicely hopped and cirtusy, yet equally malty; this aroma reminded me strikingly of Anchor’s Steam beer. The flavor wasn’t quite as well-balanced, seeming primarily sweet and lacking sufficient bitterness. Good, but not a favorite.

Pours golden orange with a nice white head. Light hoppy and citrus aroma. Flavor is smooth orange and honey, with a touch of hops in the finish.

Pours dark straw/orangish. Aroma of malt, some fruit, hops, slight honey. Tastes malty, with finishing hints of hops, citrus, caramel/honey/toffee maltiness.

Somewhat sweet malty caramel sweet aroma. Not much else. Clear amberish copper color with a small quickly dissipating white head. Roasty toasty malt flavor. Light, slighty astringent and thin. Just some roastiness in the end. Not advsed.
