Mostly grain but a weird fruit note that wasn’t quite citrus and not quite dried fruits. Flavor was of some corn notes and some caramel notes. Some hops. Not good but not awful. | 3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | May 11, 2009 Draft at the brewpub. Poured a clear light orange color. the head was fluffy and white with good retention and lacing. Smelled of light grass with hints of toffee and adhesive tape. Light to medium bodied and delicately sweet. Soft toffee dominated the flavor with hints of cereal and grass in the background. LinusStick (1850), Moon Twp, suburb of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, USA
| 2.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 3/10 | 2/5 | 3/10 | 3/5 | 10/20 | Apr 26, 2009 A boring and bland amber ale. Funny it’s called an amber because the pour was a dark gold with a thin off white ring for a head. Aroma was very weak. There was some graininess but not much else. Taste was very weak and boring. More graininess with just a hint of caramel malt that you have to search for. Decent carbonation with no aftertaste. Very boring. FunkyBrewster (505), Chicago, Illinois, USA
| 3.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Apr 4, 2009 Pours golden with a small white frothy head. Aroma is toasted malt and grain with a small floral hop character. Some citric fruitiness. Flavor starts with a smooth sweet malt character that stays sweet through most of the swallow. Bits of honey and caramel keep it very sweet and a graininess lingers in the finish. Medium body and active carbonation. Not a bad amber but a bit of a bore and not a whole lot of character. Pretty drinkable though. adavis234 (137), Columbia, South Carolina, USA
| 2.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 4/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 2/5 | 13/20 | Mar 29, 2009 12 oz bottle. Pours a reddish brown with an almost non-existent off-white head. Aroma of malt, if anything. Malty flavor, but once again, not much there. Better than some other Harpoon offerings but not that great. j12601 (1332), Poughkeepsie, New York, USA
| 3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 4/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Feb 22, 2009 On tap at the Golden Rail. Pours a clear medium dark amber. Nice sweet toasted malt on the nose. Clean medium body with a nice light bitter finish. Nothing mind blowing, but no glaring flaws. Overall nice easy drinking session beer, but in general I’d grab something else over another pint of this, as it’s nearly forgettable. SuIIy (1484), Jamaica Plain, Massachusetts, USA
| 2.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Jan 30, 2009 Bottle. Pours a dark golden color with a small white head.very effervescent. Nose is very hoppy, fresh, a bit piney. Flavor is mainly hops with a small hint of light malt in the finsh. Fairly simple. Hops flavor and scents diminish as beer is allowed to air out a little and a bit more stale malt notes are present.
