Commercial Description:
Currently Thom’s Olde Ale is Harpoon Ale, our first beer.

The first in the Harpoon family of beers, our ale is a light amber in color, medium bodied, and well balanced. The slightly fruity aroma is from Harpoon’s special yeast.

This amber beer had very little head. The aroma was malty with some fruit and no hops, but somewhat weak. The flavor was slightly sweet, but unremarkable. Nothing special going on here.

A well balanced ale. Very disappointing head with decent lacing. Almost no hop aroma. Flavor makes up for the appearance. Very smooth and only slightly bitter. Little aftertaste. Above average amber ale.

This beer is decent. Overall, the harpoon brand seems to be good yet unchallenging and mostly uninteresting.

Bottle. Pours a light amber color that is mostly clear. Decent head that fails quickly but never leaves completely with light lacing and an earthy somewhat malty nose. Not much sweetness but an immediate bitterness even though this brew did not have an overwhelming hop aroma. Mouthfeel is nice for an ale with small bubbles in its carbonation and a finish of light to medium bitterness rolling into a toffee-like ending. In short, pretty damn good ale.

Malty caramel aroma. Hints of fruits and light hop notes. Taste is above average. Smooth and unoffensive. I like it.

Pours light copper with a small creamy white head that mostl recedes, lacing very lightly. Aroma is malty (biscuit, grainiess), slightly hoppy, and somewhat fruity. Flavor is lightly fruity, lightly caramel, light apple, and a decent hoppy finish. Medium bodied, extremely well balanced ale.
