Put in the perspective that this recipe has been a round since Ronald Reagan was president earned a few extra points with me. It was a beer ahead of its time then. yespr (12283), Copenhagen O, Denmark

THEBEERORG948 HAS CAPTURED MY EXACT THOUGHTS ON THIS BREW THEREBY SAVING ME FROM NEEDLESS REPETITION. DESPITE HAVING DRANK THIS ON SEVERAL OCCASIONS I CANNOT OFFER A RECCOMMENDATION AS TO WHEN IT WOULD BE BEST TO ENJOY. | 2.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 11/20 | Jun 2, 2007 5/07/2007: Harpoon Ale has a hazy amber color and billowing carbonation that feeds a long-lasting off-white crown that leaves some interesting lacing patterns. The aroma has some malt with caramel and fruit undertones to it. Light caramel, apples?, and a hint of cardboard can be found in the flavor. There isn’t much, if any, detectable hop flavor or bitterness. However, the short finish is accentuated by some grassy, floral, and buttery flavors. The aftertaste is like cigar tobacco which is somewhat surprising since there really isn’t too much else going on in this beer! Some additional oxidation flavors become apparent at warmer temperatures. the palate is soft and smooth. Harpoon Ale isn’t overly exciting, but for some reason this beer grows on me with each drink...

| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Jun 1, 2007 Rated 1/31/07: Nice malty aroma, some burnt caramel malt and a little sweetness. Medium copper pour with a sizeable head that diminished, good lacing along the glass. Medium fullness, very easy and drinkable. Flavor is dominated by a good malt content of caramel with some light roasted flavors and a good nuttinness. Little hop flavors and bitterness came my way, mostly malt. Drinkable and easy on the palate, this is a nice ale. TheBeerOrg (1583), Kentucky, USA

| 2.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 10/20 | Apr 8, 2007 Tasted like a watered down ale to me. Hops and malt balance was nice, but like I said, a little too watered down.
