Nov 27, 2008 12 oz bottle from Harpoon’s Winter Seasonal 12 pack. Pours a dark brown with ruby edges. Small tan head and no lacing. Nose is all chocolate. Bit on the thin side for a stout. Could of used more body. Taste is almost all chocolate. Some cherry flavor too. Chocolate covered cherries anyone? Not a complex brew. Very enjoyable. To bad you get only two in the 12 pack.

Nov 19, 2008 First bottles just made available. Winter mix packs only. Dark brown pour with mahogany highlights. Nose of cocoa. What starts as a cocoa milk chocolate flavor fades into a bitter chocolate finish. Reminded me of a hershey’s milk chocolate candy bar in a glass! However, I sampled this at a tasting and they suggesting mixing this together with their raspberry UFO. Result: Chocolate Raspberry truffle. Best harpoon I’ve had.

Oct 3, 2008 (Draught) Pours a deep mahogany body with a small beige head. Aroma is roasted malt, slight sourness, and cocoa. Flavor of chocolate, roasted malt, and Belgian yeast with some herbal bitterness in the finish.

Sep 29, 2008 Sample @ BBF ’08, Boston. What a mess....pours a gorgeous deep brown with a lighter-brown head. Aroma is slight Belgian chocolate without much else. Taste is chocolate up front with a weak, watery finish....I was bitterly disappointed by this.
