Commercial Description:
Harpoon Brown is brewed to accentuate the sweeter, rounder notes derived from six different malts, including a de-husked chocolate malt that adds a hint of chocolate. The blend of these malts produces a beer that is complex and delicious without being heavy. This drinkable beer is perfect as a session beer or paired with foods.

12oz bottle from Mayflower Beer and Wine (Plymouth, MA). Pours a dark brown with thin white head. Some lacing. Aroma is sweet malt, spice, some flowers, caramel. Flavor is most malt, grains, and bread with some notes of caramel and molasses sweetness. Generally light body with a quick, sweet finish.

Very drinkable, but not alot of flavor. I understand the role of a session ale, but really could have used some more flavor and complexity overall. Like a waterier Newcastle.

Pours tea-colored into a shaker. Fluffy off-white head bubbles and pancakes as it slowly recedes. Dried biscuit aromas. Soft, sweet caramel upfront with a lasting metallic finish. Boring.

Nice enough brown, but nothing special. Easy on the tongue and full of nuts, and sweet malt. A tad watery, and not too complex.
