Clear golden, with a short lived, white head. Disappointingly one-dimensional--bitter, dry, and astringent.

On tap at a random restaurant/bar in Union Square. Harpoon IPA is an orange tinted golden colored ale with a nice initial but disappearing head. The aroma and flavor are light and full of bitter hops. This is a very nice and drinkable ale that I will look for again.

12oz. Poured orange copper with a white head. Nose and body are very similar, being mostly sweet malt with decent carbonation and an off-dry finish. Doesn’t fit the IPA style for me, I had a couple highly ranked pale ales after this that totally outshined it in complexity, body and hops. Also, this is one that does not age well. Mine was marked best by 7/31/08 and was fresh but a friends was marked 3/29/08 and was way past its prime and justified a replacement at the bar. An okay introductory IPA.

Pours clear golden amber with large off-white head. Tastes hop bitter and not well balanced. Smells of piney and fruity hops. Body is thin. Bitter lingering finish. Pretty label is the best thing going for this one.

bottle. light copper, thin foamy head. grassy and floral hop aroma, and light bitter. a little light in flavor. fizzy carbonation. definitely a second tier ipa. had this alongside the long trail and i prefered the latter. this one is much lighter fare.

Golden color with a decent white head. Lots of hops. Not my favorite style of beer.

12 oz. bottle. Nice beer, although nothing exceptional here. Hops are in a nice balance with the malt background, but not overpowering. A nice brew.

Bottle best by 7/25/08: pours nice looking copper color with a head that retains. Not a distinguishable aroma sort of bockish with hops. Decent beer that isn’t too impressive. It had a light bodied watered down taste. Hops are there but they have a heavy flavor and seem to float off with the water flavor. Beer has a slight corn-ish taste. Nevertheless, I would not turn this down and I will try it again.
