7/18/2009: Harpoon IPA is light yellow in color with a foamy off-white head. A faint Cascade hop aroma is followed by caramel/toffee malt and lightly citrusy, toothpaste-like flavors. Overall this beer is average at best; a mediocre IPA.

Draught sample(s) at the 14th Annual Indiana Microbrewers Festival in Indianapolis, Indiana. Rating #944 for this beer.

Aroma of grapefruit is good but fairly generic. The malts are really lost in this and the finish, while bitter, left an off-must taste.

12 oz. bottle. Pours a deep gold with a creamy, eggshell head. Pine hop nose with some honey and citrus thrown in. Medium carbonation with a medium mouthfeel. Mild palate for an IPA, which isn’t necessarily a bad thing. A little pine, floral notes, and hop spiciness on the palate. A good balance of malt and hops here. Medium finish with some lingering bitterness. Overall a very drinkable IPA. Not the most imaginative, but a good intro IPA. And it left great lacing all the way down the glass!

From the tap. Grassy hops; a bit a citrus in there somewhere. Not as hoppy as I would like a beer in this style to be. Watery. Good summer refresher, but kind of unimaginative for an IPA.

Pours a golden-amber body and a barely off-white head with some lace. Smells of pineapple, some honey, a little malt. Flavor is weak citrus hops and a little honey. Finish is a little bitter and a weak pineapple note lingers.

12 oz bottle poured into a pint glass. Color is pale orange, clear, with a small white head. Aroma of light citrus hops and pine. Taste is hoppy with light caramel malt. Mouthfeel is crisp and clean. An OK ipa, kind of mild on all fronts.

Got a pint of this at Lucky’s Lounge in Boston. Pours a light orange, with lots of crisp citrus and floral hops on the nose, good caramel malt balance. Full bodied but sessionable - very drinkable. Nice.
