| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Mar 29, 2009 Bottle from trade with jastack. Pours clear brown from bottle, but stands dark brown in a glass. Nose is lots of coffee with dark fruit and hints of spice. Flavor is lots of coffee, spice, hops, dark fruit, a mellow lager presence that is swiftly neutralized by the the bitterness that lingers from coffee and hops. Medium-bodied, enjoyable baltic porter. hellbilly (1534), scottsdale über alles, Arizona, USA
| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Mar 20, 2009 pours a dark ruby brown color... a shade darker than a usual porter with a soft tan head and decent lacing trails.
the nose has a faint smokiness in the background... out front are milk chocolate, prunes, brown sugar, malt powder, toasty grain and some spicy floral notes from the alcohol.
the palate is surprisingly rich and robustly roasty with flavors of milk chocolate, vanilla cream, coffee nuttiness, yeast, a slight cocoa-like bitterness, wood and a mild smoky undertone. pleasantly spicy finish from the alcohol and hoppiness gives it a nice drying effect. alcohol warms the belly and turns the ears red.
medium body is nice since it is not sugary. the alcoholic spice (and perhaps the hops) thins it out and really makes it more enjoyable. soft carbonation builds up kinda sudsy across the palate. 8/3/8/4/15/3.8 JoeMcPhee (5025), Jackson Heights, New York, USA
| 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Mar 19, 2009 Dark brown-black beer with a thin tan head. Aroma is quite chocolatey. Sweet and cocoaish with a nice light sweetness on the nose. A touch of peppery alcohol up front. There is a light herbal backnote as well. Flavour is pretty lean bodied with a toasty cocoaish flavour. It tastes quite boozy in a way that is a little distracting. Soft astringency on the back as well. It’s a bit of a miss for me. Smokey roasted malt aroma with some lightly spicy licorice. Sweetened coffee, fudgey chocolate, medium bitterness, and a lightly alcoholic finish. Medium-bodied with looser carbonation and light stickiness. Nice flavors, but a little sweet and sticky as well. CaptainCougar (5526), Rockville, Maryland, USA
| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Mar 13, 2009 Bottle shared by argo0: Pours a barely transparent dark mahogany with a thin, wispy-lacing light tan head. Aroma of toasty dark caramel and dark fruity ester complexity with a hint of tartness. Starts with good fullness and nice dark malty sweetness with an enjoyable dark fruity complexity for balance before a bready yeasty finish with some lingering dark chocolate notes. A pretty true to style and enjoyable Baltic porter. Soonah (970), Tulsa, Oklahoma, USA
| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Mar 13, 2009 From the artist formerly known as jjpm74 via trade. Dark pour with a one-finger tall almost tan head. Thin bits of lacing. The aroma was roasted malt, some chocolate and definite perfumy, floral hops. The flavor was roasted malt, dry chocolate and an almost soapy floral flavor I’ll attribute to the hops. The mouthfeel was slightly above average.
