On tap at Cole’s Bar in Buffalo. Dark ambar colour with tan head, and nice lacing. Intense sweet malty aroma. Malty sweet, dried fruit and alcohol flavour. Lingering intense aftertaste. Definetly a favourite.

Bottle: Amberish, rusty copper with a wispy tan head. Very sweet aroma- maple, vanilla, raisin, some chemical/solventy character/acetone notes and some phenolics of clove & banana. Peppery alcoholic feel- solventy- quite solventy flavor. Very big and sweet yet it’s prickly carbonated. Dryish cocoa undertones with clove notes and candied maple character. Lots of peppery alcohol as well. Solventy, with more alcohol/fusels on the back. The alcohol masks any nuances that may be there, but it remains drinkable.

@CBC-12oz bottle-pours a light tan head and cloudy amber color. Aroma is sweet medium/dark malt, dark fruit, some earthy hops. Taste is sweet medium/dark malt, dark fruit, some earthy hops, alcohol. Big. Occasional.

Bottle shared at toncatchers. A very nice quad. I enjoyed the barley wine characteristics, as well as it bieng a quad. Figs and dates, plums too. Very nice.

Draft at Sunset Grill. Poured a hazy murky brown color with an off white head. Smelled of clove and subdued banana. Full bodied with a warming alcohol note and a pinch of salt. Lots of clove in the flavor with additional notes of fig and plum. Decent stuff.

Cloudy, yeasty, dark amber pour. Raisins and sweet malt aroma, alcohol noticeable. Strong complex flavor, strong dark fruits, malts and alcohol. Alcohol a little overwhelming for my taste, overpowering many of the complex flavors.

12 oz bottle at Toncatcher’s house, shared with Padrefan, Fordest and a few others. An amber-brown pour with a small white head. The aroma is fruity. The taste is similar to that of a fruity barley-wine, plenty of complex fruits and malts. The finish is long and lightly biter. The palate is full and malty. Overall: A quite drinkable quad, very tasty. I was surprised to see that this was a quad.

12 oz bottle from Moneghans. Pours a deep brown with some burnt orange edges and a huge foamy beige head. Looked nice enough except for the ridiculous amount of sediment from the bottle conditioning. Aroma of dark fruit, raisin..plum, overripe banana, yeast, alcohol. Flavor is more grainy and alcohol and the sweetness from the dark fruit aromas isn’t represented as well as I would have liked. Alcohol becomes more noticable upon warming and the body has a slight chalky finish. A solid effort and actually not bad considering it’s Harpoon and 11.75%.
