Still really sweet and malty. Hoppy bitterness could be more in tune. Pine sap notes with more molasses. Pretty good. I’ve seen the sweet, malty IPA^2 done better though. | 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Sep 7, 2009 Bomber sampled at Butters’ 1500 / MmmcKay’s 200 tasting. Semi clear orange pour with thin coating of white head. Nose is sweet citrusy fruity hops. Flavor is resiny citrus pine sap with a hint of butteryness. Syrupy sweet body. Hides the abv remarkably well. Best Harpoon I’ve had. Great label/name. GoBlue (102), Falls Church, Virginia, USA
| 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 18/20 | Sep 7, 2009 Great aroma and full hop flavor to the point of sweetness. Nice malt, but could stand a bit more with all the hops. A little too much carbonation give a harsh, biting mouthfeel. Overall quite nice.

| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Sep 7, 2009 12oz bottle (Best by 09/15/09) served in a tulip. Highly hazed golden orange pour with a one-finger thick head of creamy beige foam. Excellent lacing. The aroma consisted of bright orange peel and pith, lemon zest, tangerines, and some grapefruit rind. Also some sweet malt. The flavor had tangerines, grapefruit, and some sweet caramel. Moderately bitter. Full-bodied mouthfeel with light carbonation. Really nice balance of sweetness and bitterness. Well done. MI2CA (1266), Noblesville, Indiana, USA

| 4.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 4/5 | 9/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Sep 5, 2009 Another fine example of an East Coast DIPA. For those of you who care to know the difference, East Coast imperial ipa’s are generally more tilted towards the malt side of the balancing beam. Thats not to say that this beer is short on hops, it’s not. This is one of my favorite DIPA’s. Very floral aroma, malty start, bitter finish. Excellent. $9.99/4 pack 12 oz. bhensonb (4341), Woodland, California, USA
| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Sep 3, 2009 #4000 Bottle from ericandersnavy - thanks for helping me over a big number! Pours quite copper with a fluffy off-white head. Aroma seems to be a complex of floral/citrus/fruit/resin. Medium plus body with fairly strong carbonation. Flavor is quite bitter with a mildly roasted caramel backbone. Finish is rather floral. It’s extremely tasty.
