The appearance is pale gold with a foamy head. The flavor is like the aroma with a definite fruitiness. The palate is smooth. Overall it’s a good beer and quite strong. dchmela (1440), Orlando, Florida, USA
| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 16/20 | Jun 24, 2009 Pours a dark gold with a thick white head. Huge grapefruit, pine aroma with ouches of caramel malt. Nice and fresh, so the hops are just poppin. Nice smooth malt body with a little caramel and then just a blast of big grapefruit, citrus, pine hop bitterness, very floral and just soaked with hops. This is really good. caswayno (4), USA does not count | 5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 10/10 | 5/5 | 10/10 | 5/5 | 20/20 | Jun 24, 2009 Nice job harpoon grapefruit grapefruit grapefruit dogfish head look out harpoons back in the game this is what i’ve been waiting for in a iipa bu11zeye (5505), Frisco, Texas, USA

| 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 5/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Jun 23, 2009 I’ll agree with the most recent poster: grapefruit, citrus, pine dominant. The only drawback (and this is from drinking two bottles): carbonation is FLAT. Taste is awesome, but not what I expected, even with a good bit of experience with the style. rajendra82 (704), Alpharetta, Georgia, USA
| 4.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 4/5 | 9/10 | 4/5 | 19/20 | Jun 23, 2009 The beautiful cascading pour was followed by a typical DIPA look with a pale and hazy body and a one finger thick foamy head. The smell of hops was prominent, but not overwhelming. Mostly grapefruit pith in the smell. The taste was strongly hopped, with the citrus taste dominant. The body was thick and sticky, and the finish very dry and spicy. Very easy to drink for a beer of this heft. Well done Harpoon. | 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Jun 21, 2009 Bottle shared. Poured clear amber orange with a big offwhte head. Aroma of caramel, citrus hops, syrupy sweetness. Taset is really resiny, fruity hops, with plenty of sweet malt to accompany. Mouth is pretty big and full. Finish is bitter. Overall, a decent imperial ipa.
