| 4.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 4/5 | 9/10 | 5/5 | 17/20 | May 20, 2009 Brought back from my recent trip home to New England - this Imperial IPA pours a cloudy orange color with a thick white head. Piney aroma with some citrus, hops and malt. Taste of hops, apricot, pine and honey - great, great IPA. Moderate carbonation that provided the perfect mouthfeel on this one... My only regret is I have not seen this brew in NC yet - so when the 4 pack is gone, it is gone. BUMMER - this is a beer I could drink all summer. porterhouse (1163), Alna, Maine, USA

Aroma is fresh pine - like a newly-cut Christmas tree. Mouthfeel is fairly smooth, a hint pebbly, quite sticky on the back end. Taste is pleasantly sweet overlain by fresh piney hops. Some caramel and very light floral notes. Bitterness builds to a hefty bite in the finish which carries through to the aftertaste. A nice, quite drinkable big IPA - none of the harshness or abrasiveness found in some of the style. Skyview (4097), Papoose Jct., Minnesota, USA
| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | May 18, 2009 Sampled from a 12-oz bottle during Dark Lord Day ’09 at table 1. Pours a semi-clear golden amber brew with a decent off-white head that quickly dissipates but leaves behind some excellent lacing. Aroma of fruity zest, peaches, a hint of grapefruit and light caramel malt. Taste is medium bodied, some carbonation with flavors of mostly citrus, peach, pine and some yeast. Finish is quite bitter, a slight metallic texture and retains a lingering bitterness and then a golden grain malt aftertaste. jredmond (1072), New Jersey, USA

| 4.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 4/5 | 9/10 | 5/5 | 18/20 | May 16, 2009 Served in a wine glass at Austin Flying Saucer. One finger off-white head over golden body. Hops dominate smell and taste with a hint of grapefruit up front. Very highly carbonated. The high alcohol is masked well. Fantastic IPA! mcmd (147), Louisville, Kentucky, USA
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | May 13, 2009 12oz bottle in a snifter. Pours a clear golden orange with a foamy white head which lasts. Aroma is piney and grapefruit hops, sweet malt. Taste is sweet biscuity malt up front with bitter piney hops taking over quickly and hanging around getting more and more bitter each second. I almost have to drink more just to get the slight pill taste out of my mouth. Must be simcoe hops - not a big fan. Still enjoyable though.
