Pours a clear orange/amber, with a thin cap of white head. The taste is a touch of caramel sweetness that gets quickly overtaken with pine, citrus, and a touch of tropical fruit. Moderately long bitter finish, and a full mouthfeel round this one out. Tasty, but for the price, I’ll go Hopslam or Double Trouble. BroSpud (608), , Massachusetts, USA

| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Mar 18, 2009 Bottle (12oz). Bright clear deep amber pour, large lasting off-white creamy/fluffy head - thick lacing, too. Terrific resin/pine/grapefruit aroma, slightly mango-sweet, only mild alcohol - solid, just the thing. The taste carries the sweet tropical fruit, slightly overripe, but the bitterness is simpler, drier - resin and grapefruit pith, a little boozy. Average body, astringent and mildly carbonated, very long pithy bitter linger. Solid dIPA, and nice to have it in a smaller bottle. sheatripper (863), Brooklyn, New York, USA
| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Mar 18, 2009 Bottle. Clear orange pour with a frothy moderate off-white head leaving spotty lacing. Big hop aroma, marked by citrus and tropical fruit. Clean vaguely sweet malts properly submissive to the grapefruit, orange and resin hop infusion. Big citrusy character. Lingering bitterness on the tongue. A fine example of the style. One of the top two, if not the best Harpoon I’ve tried. tupalev (2618), Waterloo, Ontario, Canada
| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Mar 18, 2009 Growler, thanks for the pick up blankboy and hogtown harry! Shared with the K-W crew at our second monthly tasting. Orange pour, not much head. Tons of hops in aroma - you could smell this from across the room. Lovely. Taste is almost overwhelming. Hop juice, resiny with a gigantic alcohol punch. Body is medium to thin which makes that punch even bigger. Oily oily oily! I love the brashness of this beer. It would have killed me to drink the growler by myself! I won’t say it is balanced or a session beer, or the most complex, but the world needs beers like this - sometimes, this is just what you feel like having. alexsdad06 (1096), Ohio, USA
| 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Mar 17, 2009 12 oz. bottle. Pours a clear dark golden/amber color with a large fluffy yellowish head that leaves a thick lace. The aroma is big citrus and pine hops, some malt sweetness, and tropical fruits. The flavor has a big malt backbone with resiny citrus and pine hops, and a solid bitter finish that stays on the palate. Dry, but not overly so, with a medium-full body. The 10% is well masked. I thought this was a very solid imperial IPA and am happy it made it to the area. halfonit (472), Fall River, Massachusetts, USA
| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 16/20 | Mar 16, 2009 Has a light gold color. Smells mostly of hops with a little citrus undertones. Taste is very strong with hops. Has a big bite in the end. Not too bad of a beer. This is similar to Dog fish head 60 minute. Immy (1912), Virginia Beach, Virginia, USA
| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Mar 15, 2009 12 oz bottle from LooseCannon - thanks! Clear ambery orange with a white head. Whopping hop nose of floral and peach, some piney resin. Pineapple flavors, peachy and very perfumey. Tastes raw and green. A huge hop bomb, but not the type I really dig. Still, a solid brew to satisfy the hop crave.
