Pours a hazy golden straw colr with some decent head and lacing. Aroma is a big pine and peach explosion with hints of tropical fruit. Full bodied and oily slick. Concentrated hop flavors with peach and pinecone notes. Overall a big hoppy beer yet a bit unbalanced. It is what it is, a big hoppy IPA. nickd717 (1389), Palo Alto, California, USA
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Sep 28, 2009 GABF 2009. Golden-amber appearance with a large white head. Aroma is caramel malt, spice, and citrusy hops of average intensity. Flavor is a little weaker and rougher on the hops than I’d like, with hops mostly of the orange/grapefruit variety, but a little pine in there as well. Malt character is mainly caramel. Body is medium with some sticky and mildly syrupy hop oils on the palate. Overall, this is about average for a DIPA. probstk (1064), Nepean, Ontario, Canada
| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Sep 26, 2009 12 fl oz bottle via Lubiere (merci!), served at cellar temperature in a tulip glass.
App.: Clear light amber with a nice light tan meringue.
Aroma: Big sticky gobs of sweet marmalade and caramel, strong fruity notes of apricot and peach, what I’ve come to expect from American DIPAs.
Palate: Medium+ body, fairly full, small, soft effervescence.
Flav.: Like the nose, there is a predominance of spicy bitter orange and grapefruit with a solid caramel backbone, fairly fruity and sweet; sweet and quite bitter, drying with some strong bitter citrus notes to finish alone with burnt sugar.
Quite as expected. ALCOHOLNIZM (65), WARWICK, USA
