Hops dominate smell and taste with a hint of grapefruit up front. Very highly carbonated. The high alcohol is masked well. Fantastic IPA! rajendra82 (704), Alpharetta, Georgia, USA
| 4.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 4/5 | 9/10 | 4/5 | 19/20 | Jun 23, 2009 The beautiful cascading pour was followed by a typical DIPA look with a pale and hazy body and a one finger thick foamy head. The smell of hops was prominent, but not overwhelming. Mostly grapefruit pith in the smell. The taste was strongly hopped, with the citrus taste dominant. The body was thick and sticky, and the finish very dry and spicy. Very easy to drink for a beer of this heft. Well done Harpoon. LooseCannon (936), Norfolk, Virginia, USA

Piney aroma with some citrus, hops and malt. Taste of hops, apricot, pine and honey - great, great IPA. Moderate carbonation that provided the perfect mouthfeel on this one... My only regret is I have not seen this brew in NC yet - so when the 4 pack is gone, it is gone. BUMMER - this is a beer I could drink all summer. williamherbert (475), Syracuse, New York, USA
| 4.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 5/5 | 18/20 | Aug 31, 2009 The appearance is bright, clear light orange color with tiny carbonation. Bold, white, shaving cream head. Frost leaves a haze outside the glass. Terrific frosty lace.
The smell is severe, woody hop aroma. Heavy pine and citrus. Rye-like malts in the nose. Bitter but fresh.
The taste is bitter, bitter, bitter. Tons of woody hops with deep oak and pine character. Hints of indeterminate citrus (orange?). Bitter but really good. Almost an apple flavor. Nearly Belgian tartness.
The feel is creamy and substantial. Lets you know it’s there. It’s wonderfully bitter. Really heavy and bursting with woody hops. Awesome.
