Commercial Description:
Inspired by the centuries-old Bavarian beer, our Harpoon Munich Dark has a dark, balanced maltiness complimented with a moderate hop finish. We introduced this beer in 1998 and received first prize for Best Beer Overall of 1998 in BarleyCorn Magazine

Bottled@SBWF2007. Deep amber colour, mediumsized brown head. Aroma is caramel malts, some hops and slight leather. Flavour is malts, hops and quite bittery. OK brew, but lacks a "moment of excitement".

12 oz. bottle. Very dark brown with creamy, off white head. Sweet malt nose, with a bit of chocolate. Very nice carmel and chocolate notes, subtle with sweet malt notes, with a nice, crisp hop finish.

Bottled at Stockholm Beer Festival. Mahogany colour, rich head. Distinct aroma of coffee and metal. Mdeium dry with clean mouthfeel and solid malty backbone. Roasty flavours of old coffee with milk. Salty finish.

Pours a crystal clear brown with a very strong red highlight. Muted nose with little to it. Taste is thick with what I can only describe as an oil edge to it on the start. Changes into a very long lasting flavor adventure. Over time I get hints of roasted coffee. Worth trying as much for the complexity of flavors as anything else. Definitely worth going back to again, though I’d say best in the company of fellow beer snob friends so as to go over it’s finer points of style.

The body was dark brown, and the head was an off white color, the flavor had a hint of caramel and I would defiantly drink this one again.

Dark malt aroma with a scotch ale like smell. Darkish amber color with a malt off white head. Slight malty biterness start with a smooth finish.

12 oz bottle. Deep, dark copper brown, with a nice but rapidly fading light beige head. Aroma is burnt caramel, chocolate milk, and a bit of sweet spice. Taste is fairly complex, with roast malt, maraschino cherry, light caramel, chocolate, and a touch of spice. Finish is quite bitter. Feels thin at first, but fills out quite nicely by the end.

had this one at the brewery, tastes slightly sweet and not very hoppy. All in all not a bad brew.
