| 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Nov 22, 2006 This Munich dark pours a really dark red with a tan head. To the nose it has ripe fruit, molassass and a little citrus. First sip is rich with flavours of roasted malts with a little coffee thrown in. Finish is hoppy with a slight bitterness. Palate is roasty with lingering hops. DeuceDeuceOU (51), Athens/Cleveland, Ohio, USA
| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 17/20 | Nov 6, 2006 Pour was dark as expected, with a nutty-tan head. Aroma is of hops with chocolate. Lacing is medium thin, but still visible. Flavor goes from chocolate to slightly metallic and then to strong coffee. VERY unique in regards to the order. Smooth finish with little carbonation and some hop. Will drink again, as a friend of Harpoon! mansquito (838), Boston/Philadelphia, USA
| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Oct 31, 2006 Far and by, this is my favourite of all of the Harpoon beers. High on the alcohol content and heavy on the bitter flavour. Really well balanced, but rather hoppy at the same time. Beautifully dark pour and great feel going down the throat. (Rating #730) cheapdark (2026), Monacatootha, Pennsylvania, USA
| 2.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 3/10 | 4/5 | 3/10 | 2/5 | 11/20 | Oct 21, 2006 Updated: Dec 31, 2007I never thought I’d try a harpoon after reading some of the reviews of their beer. Aroma is that of freshly rinsed cotton whites. Dark dark red brown in my steeler mug. A slightly burned something inital flavor. More carbonation than flat. A little more than a little bitter on the finish - and it lasts. just a little coarse. JoeMcPhee (5025), Jackson Heights, New York, USA
| 2.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 5/10 | 2/5 | 11/20 | Oct 20, 2006 Deep brown beer, thick tan head. Nice deep malty aroma, milk chocolate and a touch of herbal hoppiness. Toasted almonds and some light maltiness. Flavour is a bit thin but the beer has some light herbal hop character. Lingering bitterness. Decent beer, but it’s not really a special one, either. hopdog (5607), Lansdale, Pennsylvania, USA
| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Oct 2, 2006 12oz bottle. Poured a dark brown color with an averaged sized tan head. Aromas of stronger roasted malts with some chocolate, and caramel. Tastes of roasted malts, chocolate, and caramel. The roastiness in the tastes were not as strong as the aromas whereas the caramel was stronger in the tastes than the aromas. Semi-sweet with a light bitter finish.
