Commercial Description:
Inspired by the centuries-old Bavarian beer, our Harpoon Munich Dark has a dark, balanced maltiness complimented with a moderate hop finish. We introduced this beer in 1998 and received first prize for Best Beer Overall of 1998 in BarleyCorn Magazine

This was from a mixed case. It had a nice crisp malty flavor over a soft caramel-laden finish which was easy to swallow and drink.

On tap at the Middle East in Cambridge.

Pours dark with a moderate head; the aroma is robustly malted, some brown sugar. The flavor follows, a straight-ahead dunkel, enjoyable even if not outright exceptional.

This review may be biased due to my love of dunkels. This had a unike nutty aroma and great but not too intense flavor.

I had this beer last night and really enjoyed it. It was very drinkable. It was tasty without being too heavy or two complex. Are their better dark beers out their of course but this guy was nice because it was dark without kicking you in the crotch each time. Very drinkable.

A darkish brown transparent color with an almond head. Aroma is sweet, nutty malty. Body is bitter, thin and has a definite raison flavor to it. Decent brew indeed must one who is I say.

Sampled at Nerax: Poured a dark brown with a sweet caramel brown sugar nose with some citrus hop background. The taste starts pale on the tongue, syrupy thick with a great caramel sweetness. It then moves to a sweet bitter hop finish, surrounded by a strong malty backbone with the nice roasted malt complimenting the entire brew. Note: Have had this in the bottle and am not a fan but this cask version is fantastic and would try to find again.

One of my favorite harpoon beers. It is a good dark, not to filling with a good deep flavor.
