From a bottle. Dark ruby brown color. Chocolatey and malty in aroma. Rich chocolate flavor with some hops in the finish. It’s a decent beer and probably my favorite of the Harpoon’s that I’ve tried. wnp22 (682), Toronto (Roncesvalles Village), Ontario, Canada

| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Mar 18, 2005 Dark brown with a tint of brick red, small light tan head. Sweet caramel maltiness; the medium to bold maltiness is somewhat overpowered by the strong sweetness. This seems sweeter than most dark brews I have tasted, but this is nice, very tasty. Not as dark and full bodied as other dark beers, but very pleasurable. DrGonzo (625), Somerville, Massachusetts, USA
| 3.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Feb 26, 2005 From cask at Bukowski (Cambridge), though from the looks and feel of this it seems like it came from a nitro-tap, weird. Dark brown color, with a largely malty aroma. Medium body, nuts, sweet, too much so for my liking, could use a bit more tobacco and smokiness for the style. Not bad though . openwindow (67), Manchester, New Hampshire, USA
| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 5/5 | 15/20 | Feb 4, 2005 I really enjoyed this beer. It’s a very dark copper color pour with minimal head. Not very hoppy at all, malts really come through in the flavor. Very smooth drinking and well balanced. Dickinsonbeer (3496), Hoboken, New Jersey, USA
