Commercial Description:
Inspired by the centuries-old Bavarian beer, our Harpoon Munich Dark has a dark, balanced maltiness complimented with a moderate hop finish. We introduced this beer in 1998 and received first prize for Best Beer Overall of 1998 in BarleyCorn Magazine

(From the sample 12 pack) Pours a nice deep red-brown body with a bit of active carbonation and a nice tan head. Sweet roasty/malty flavor that has an unexpected hop bite. Bitter in the end, medium-light bodied.

Pours dark brown with a small white head. Nutty, licorice, malty flavor. Low hops. Good session beer.

Bottle. This was part of a holiday variety 12 pack I received as a gift. Nice beer. Poured a dark brown with a tan head. Nice lacing. Maltly/caramel sweet taste with a bit of hoppy finish. Not bad, not bad at all. (Beer is the best present!)

Has a sharp malt at the front and a chocolte toffee finish. One of Harpoon’s best offerings.

Bottled. Brown coloring with a tan head. Flavor is sweet and roasty with enough bittering in the finish to make it interesting. A pleasant surprise.

Out of the bottle this brew pours a dark red, transparent, with an off-white head. Sweet aroma, just like when your homebrewing, a bit unfinished sweet wert smell, and a bit of hops. Taste starts with a light caramel sweetness, nice toastiness, and finishes with some balance hops. Smooth with a nutty quality to it. This brew was a very nice easy drinking brew.

Dark brown coloured body with a thin light tan head that fades fast. Aroma of toffee, roasted malt, nuts and pit fruits. Light-bodied; Mild nutty and maltiness. No sweetness nor other flavours. Aftertaste just as bland as you’d expect-nothing on the palate. Overall, a bad beer and one that should be avoided! I sampled this twelve ounce bottle purchased from Beers of the World in Rochester, New York on 24-November-2004 on the Eastern Shore of Virginia.
