Commercial Description:
Inspired by the centuries-old Bavarian beer, our Harpoon Munich Dark has a dark, balanced maltiness complimented with a moderate hop finish. We introduced this beer in 1998 and received first prize for Best Beer Overall of 1998 in BarleyCorn Magazine

Dark malty bready smell with hints of sweetness. Pours dark brown with small off white head. Good body, little hop bite at the end, hard for me to pick up on malty flavor, but it was there after a few sips. Next sip tasted toast, nice flavoring, seemed to be in layers. Overall not bad, glad I bought this mixer pack so far.

Deep sanguine body, thin clumping tan head. Aroma of grapes, toast, and earthy hops. Body is richer than expected with toast, red wine, graham cracker, figs and cigar smoke. Plenty of tannins. Good beer!

Poured a very attractive blackish-brown, capped by a light tan head. Nice sweet, fruity nose with a crisp hop note. Very sweet in flavor but not overly so, yet still crisp and reasonably dry. Good and thick on the palate. A well-balanced sweet treat.

Good looking black coloring, but poured a thin head that caved in quickly. Nice spicy hops in both aroma and taste. Not too sweet, but a bountiful mouth-feel. Quiet finish.

Red tinted body and a thin off-white head that dissipates quick. Very chocolatey and malty with a bit of roasted turkey and maybe some toast thrown in for good measure. Time to enjoy...

Dark body with a bit of red mixed in and a very thin head. Malty and chocolate mix for the nose. Roasted malt taste, with some bitter chocolate.

Clear cherry stained oak color with a modest light tan head. Toasted malt and mild licorice aroma. Toasty malt flavors mingle with a mild spicy hops flavor. A touch too much licorice in the flavor for my taste in this style. Some nice toasted malt flavors help redeem. A decent brew for the fall, the leaves are already starting to fall. Thanks go out to DocLock.

I had this drawn off a tap. It was flat, and headless. The flavor was very malty with a hint of citrus, went down rather easy. Typical and uninteresting.
