| 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Nov 13, 2009 Bottle - pours an amber color with a thin tan head. Malty, caramal and nutty aroma. Taste is a malt heavy one as you would expect in an Oktoberfest. Also has some caramel, biscuit and sugary notes. I didn’t really pick up any of the chocolate malts but otherwise a pretty decent brew. swoopjones (1915), Buffalo, New York, USA

Aroma is sweet malt, caramel, and mild hops. Nice easy drinking and well balanced. Not as full bodied as some other octoberfests but still good. chriso (4796), London, Greater London, England
| 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Oct 30, 2009 On tap at Harpoon Brewery, 8 October 2009. Quite dark copper colour. Fairly dry malt. Not too bready. Mellow mouthfeel with a touch of residual sweetness but not too much. Hops are mainly a little earthy. The Willamette hops may not be exactly traditional for an Octoberfest but they do add a welcome, slightly citric biiterness. Decent stuff.

| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Oct 29, 2009 Red colored clear beer with a medium tan head that recedes but doesn’t disappear. Fast carbonation is active in the glass. The aroma is mostly malt with a honey and banana tone. There is a limit on the hops smell attributed to the marzen style constraints. This beer has a sweet malty flavor and a sour berry aftertaste. The hops don’t add much initial flavor but contribute a sharp bitterness at the end of a sip. This Harpoon is a suitable Oktoberfest effort. brew4fun (169), West Virginia, USA
| 3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Oct 26, 2009 12 oz. bottle. Amber pour, 1-finger head that dissipates quickly. Aroma of dark malts, lightly hoppy. Flavor leans on malt profile - Munich/Vienna-like, darkr malt and hops subdued but present. Medium body, oily slick palate, good cool-weather brew.
