changeup45 (578), Orlando, Florida, USA Apr 11, 2008 I’ve been freezing all day so I wanted to try something warming. While not terrible, this wasn’t really all that great. Pours a copper, amber color with a mediumish head. The head and lacing end up being nonexistant halfway through it. Ginger and a spiced aroma followed by a flavor that consists of ginger, nutmet, cinnamon and pumpkin. How is this a winter beer? Those seem to be characteristics you’d find in a fall beer. I found the mouthfeel to be a little thin and tart. It was okay, but that’s about it.
thefle (22), , New Jersey, USA Sep 29, 2008 Updated: Oct 7, 2008This is christmas in a bottle. This is probaly the first non normal beer that i ever drank and liked. It has a soft spot in my heart. When i started college this was unavailable in my home state, the year after i graduated it became available there and that was the best christmas present of all MiP (6026), Flensburg, Germany Sep 9, 2008 Bottle, 5.5% at GBBF08. Strange spicy aroma. Clear chestnut colour. Small tan head. Good sweet cookie flavour. Brunkage, whatever spice that is. Quite a lot of it, but I like brunkager and it is balanced OK by malt and alcohol. Hint of alcohol or hop bite in the finish, probably paint thinner, but I can live with that. oh6gdx (6334), Vaasa, Finland Aug 31, 2008 Bottled (from GBBF, had at Chris O Post GBBF Tasting). Amber colour, small head. Aroma is cinnamon, almond and some rather sweet malts. Flavour is nutmeg, cinnamon and some mild buttery and spicy notes. johndoughty (1660), cheslyn hay, West Midlands, England Aug 25, 2008 Bottle. KimJohansen (4294), Copenhagen V, Denmark Aug 9, 2008 Clear dark amber with large white head. Loads of cardarmum in the aroma and flavor. Christmas in a bottle..., but a bad christmas.
