bozoNZ (370), Christchurch, New Zealand Apr 10, 2008 500ml bottle, V. Dark brown, nice beige head. Aroma a little ’soapy’ but some nice roast malts in there with a touch of vanilla. Nice alcohol warmth to start and finish. Backed up in between with dark fruits (prunes), soft spices and almost a syruplike sweetness. Not sickly thick palate. As it was complimentary, this would have to rate as one of the best free beers you could ever find...!
Papsoe (10551), Frederiksberg, Denmark Feb 13, 2008 (Bottle 50 cl) Pours a very dark brown with a tint of orange and a neat, dense and retentive, beige head leaving some lacework. Aroma of burned malt and some spices. Quite full-bodied with hard roasted malt accents and then quite some spices: cinnamon is sticking out, but also some cardamom and a sweetish, berry-like edge. Dry and rather malt bitter finish with some alcohol presence also. Quite interesting really. 040208 Plimmer (243), Frederiksberg, Denmark Feb 4, 2008 Dark brow opaque body with large dense head. Nose with chocolate, coffee and cinamon. Cinamon also takes part in the taste and aftertaste along with caramel and malt. I can understand why this one is named Christmas Beer.
