The ultimate malt vehicle. Biscuity/bready mallt, little hop to speak off, yet balanced enough. Not too sweet. A really tasty beer - I could drink a lot of it but I might die at 7.2% ABV. beerledgend (919), Meadowbank Auckland, New Zealand

| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Oct 29, 2008 Pours cloudy golden with white mostly diminishing head. Sweet malty aromas, some spice & fruit as well. A strong flavoured lager, sweet but balanced with some bitter hops. Don’t know if I’d call this a malt liquor! bozoNZ (491), Christchurch, New Zealand
| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Jul 19, 2007 Tasted as Bennetts Belgium (assuming its the same). Bright clear, golden amber. Fair lacy head. Light faint malt sweet aromas. Strong dominant flavours up front. Nicely sweet, butterscotch but apart from that I’m struggling to describe. decent bitterness in the finish. Could be dangerous..... The head dissapears a little, the flavours are frontal, the rich malt flavours spread across the mid palate, but the alcohol unsettles the finish. At 7.2% not bad for a beer from the South Island.
Will I be back?
certainly.

Aroma is kiwi, tangerine. Flavor is hoppy and sweet, bitter and syrupy. I can taste the alcohol, it warms a bit. Could be better blended but this is the best malt liquor I’ve ever had. | 2.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 4/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 11/20 | Jun 11, 2008 Bottle, pours a clear and dark gold with a white creamy head. A light aroma of sweet malt, a little bready. A full mouthfeel, very bitter on the palate, with a creamy sweet malt flavour. The strong alcohol presence ("crude" as Papsoe writes) makes it a difficult swallow and I’m suprised this comes in a 500ml bottle. Different though, I’ll give them that. | 2.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 4/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 2/5 | 13/20 | Jun 8, 2002 Interesting that a respectable brewery like a Harrington’s would make what could only be classified as a malt liqour. Even so, it’s definitely the best malt liqour that I’ve ever had. A quality deep golden colour, with a thin white head. Malty and warming, but with enough hops to provide some balance and even some Saaz for aroma. My only complaint is that it doesn’t come in a 40oz bottle.
