bierkoning (4584), La Tropica, Netherlands May 14, 2008 Can, labeled 1836 Classic Chocolate Porter, from TBone. Dark brown color. Strong milk chocolate aroma. Malty flavor with loads of cacao, milk chocolate and raisin. Just a hint of aluminium. Sweetish, very pleasant, almost tasting like chocolate milk. Surprisingly good!
omhper (10039), Stockholm, Sweden Jun 22, 2008 Canned (as Hartwall 1836 Classic Chocolate Porter), thanks oh6gdx! Dark brown, rich tan head. Aroma of cocoa powder. Medium dry with clean mouthfeel and light body. Flavour is all cocoa powder with a slight metallic edge and a chocolate sauce finish. A fair attempt, but lack ot talent. bermod (66), Lappeenranta, Finland Jun 12, 2008 Sweet milk chocolate and rye bread aroma. Quite mild and artificial aroma is milk chocolate, sweet caramel and hops in the finish. Ibrew2or3 (1571), Safety Harbor, Florida, USA Jun 7, 2008 Courtesy of CigarCityBrew. Pours dark clear amber with thin tan head. The aroma is full on chocolate spanning the range from dark to milk chocolate to go along with some roastiness and graham crackers. Very nice. Just like the aroma there is a ton of chocolatiness in the flavor from tasty dark chocolate to slightly lactose infused milk chocolate. Behind that I can sense burnt malts and faint drying malt astringency. Very nice mix of flavors. mirjukka (206), LOHJA, Finland May 31, 2008 can 0,44l at home
