Commercial Description:
Only available in pastuerised bottle.
Historically so called due to the flavour of the beer, whose roasted malt and caramel sugars produce the ‘nutty’ palate of this dark, smooth ale. Priming sugars are later added to impart a background sweetness.

Deep brown brew with no head and no carbonation. The aroma is decent with nuts, light malts and a bit of toffee.... airy. There isn’t much for flavour here. Icky hops, bland and flat watered down rootbeer with a light almond and a touch of fruit. What did I expect from a 3% beer? It was worth it trying it though.

Brown with a small off-white head. Fruity aroma with caramel notes. Too sweet flavour of caramel and raisin

Bottle 275ml.
Clear medium to dark brown color with a average, frothy, good lacing, mostly lasting, off-white to beige head. Aroma is moderate malty, caraml, nutty, burnt brown sugar. Flavor is moderate sweet with a average duration, oxidide - cardboard. Body is medium, texture is oily to watery, carbonation is soft. [20090808]

275ml bottle. Dark brown, no head, very little carbonation. Sickly sweet caramel taste with little else, perhaps a bit woody. Only 3% abv and frankly disappointing. Bought from brewery via Internet. Perhaps these beers don’t travel.Won’t be buying aain.

Bottled. Amber colour, not much head. Aroma is nutty, caramelly and also has some slight wooden notes. Flavour is being quite much the same along with mild cardboardy notes. Rather sugary sweet, but well drinkable.

Bottled (at Chriso, BB 11/2008). I think from SilkTork. Dark brown color, small off-white head. Toffee, raisins and some cardboard. Light lemonade palate. Pear and raisins in the flavor. Very thin. Sugary.

Bottle from the brewery shop had at home. Alround rating: Im massivly suprised how lowely rated this is. Sweet roasted malts, no chocolate but a nice balance of sweet malt character and a light raisiny fruityness. Very good stuff. Thankfully i can get it a 7 min walk from work at all times.

More fun than sweet sussex but still very thin and uninteresting, this time at least you get some aroma out of it. Prunes and liquorice, thin body, a bit of a dryish note in the ending.
