Nov 18, 2004 Dark, roasted malt aroma with bourbon notes. Nice, but somewhat subtle. Dark ruby red, brown in color. no head. Smooth flavor; dry with chocolate malts. A little too lactose in the finish. Ok. Probably the best of the Harvey’s line I’ve had. But that’s not saying much.

Feb 16, 2005 Pours with a one-finger light tan head that fades slowly leaving a good lace. Deep amber color almost black. Good carbonation and light-medium bodied. Nose is chocolate. Starts with a sweetish molasses flavor, finish is slightly bitter chocolate. $4.25 for a 500ml bottle from Colonial Spirits Acton, MA..

Nov 22, 2007 LCBO tasting- Poured a dark deep brown/blackish with a thick mocha head. Not much lacing. Mild roasty aroma, coffee beans, dark chocolate, some candy. Flavours are milk chocolate, black coffee, bitter hops, roasted malts. Good bitter and creamy finish. A solid porter.

Feb 13, 2006 Courtesy of Pailhead. Dark brown almost black, minimal head, mostly film. Both aroma and flavor have a huge licorice character to them. Very dry and bitter in the finish. Licorice quality kills this beer for me.

Apr 12, 2009 Dark brown with some ruby accents and a thin tan head that leaves some lace. Aroma of sweet malt, sugar, black licorice and mild chocolate. Taste of black licorice, sweet roasted malt, anise and perhaps molasses. Body comes across with a grainy texture with almost a cola-like feel. Meh.

Oct 30, 2007 Bouteille de 500 ml, acheté au LCBO d’Ottawa (Rideau et King Edward). Brune foncée avec un légé teint de rouge, mince collet. Arome d’orge malté avec un légé touche de chocolat. Goût de malté chocolaté mi-amère, un peu d’orge roti, mais assez légé. Bien plaisant!

Nov 4, 2007 Pours a black opaque body with low carbonation and a thin, lasting beige creamy head. Good malty/hoppy aroma with roasted cereals hints. Its taste is sharp and well balanced. It ends with a long roasty/bitter finish. Well done Porter.

Feb 4, 2005 Black color with a thin white head. Very attractive sweet chocolate aroma. Flavor really fills out in the finish with mild chocolate. Very easy to drink and quite tastey.
