SilkTork (3853), Rochester, Kent, England Jun 28, 2003 Updated: Mar 15, 2007 June, 2003:<a href=http://www.beerintheevening.com/pubs/s/20/20801/Anchor/Sevenoaks>The Anchor, Sevenoaks. A firm fruity best beer but with a full taste of oak. Yeast, sulphur and fruit on the nose. Glowing golden amber colour. After big fruit rush the finish initially goes empty, then a mild dry bitterness starts to come through along the roof of the mouth, fruit joins in briefly before the mild, dry bitterness is left alone again to end on a salty note. Pulls well above its strength, and reminded me of Abbot Ale. [3.5]

Aug, 2006 <a href=http://www.beerintheevening.com/pubs/s/77/7729/Little_Gem/Aylesford>Little Gem, Aylesford. Fucking glorious! This is what beer is all about - fantastically drinkable and thirst-quenching, yet packed with flavour. So tasty you want more and more and more, and to keep on drinking for ever, yet interesting and varied enough to invite investigation and contemplation. Sweet malt and a stunning burst of hops. Fragrant, flowery, infused and floating, earthy and gently spicy, warm hop oil burning on the tip of the tongue. O yes. O yes, yes, yes. [4.7]
March, 2007Kings Head, Battle Awesome. Fresh and unbelievably flavoursome. I could drink this all day. I WANT to drink this all day. In here, in this pub. Die happy. [5]
bman1986 (72), Broadstairs, Kent, England Aug 16, 2008 Cask at The Butchers Arms, Herne: Brown in colour as you’d epect from a best bitter. Very malty aroma. The flavour is full of malt with a fair ammount of toffee. Probably the best best bitter there is. Gorgeous beer. joe1961_2 (405), camberley, Surrey, England Aug 10, 2008 Cask at White Horse, London. A good clear orange colour with a thin white head The aroma is all about fruit. Good bitter and crisp taste. A very good beer.
DruncanVeasey (1612), Burbage, Leicestershire, England Aug 1, 2008 The Black Jug, Horsham. Fresh barelly snout. Tea-like amber lined with lace. Simple wholesome woodsiness, heady dried fruit at 4%, buttery biscuit to finish. Much more like it. tarjei (1131), Bryne, Norway Jul 20, 2008 Pint cask at The White Hart, Newhaven. Brown color, almost no head. Aroma is spicy and fruity. Flavor is sweet malt, spices and some hops. wheresthepath (210), Buckinghamshire, England Jul 17, 2008 [on handpump at the Jolly Angler, Reading] Pours a deep amber brown with a moderate, lasting white head. Was slightly cloudy with a little sediment in the bottom, so I think it may have been getting near the bottom of the barrel, but appeared none the worse for it. Huge floral hops on the foretaste, followed by a deep, woody leaf-rot earthiness. Enormously bitter in the aftertaste. I wouldn’t normally like this much bitterness in a beer as I find it blots out the other flavours, but here the other flavours are strong enough to cope; it’s a superb, well-balanced bitter that I can thoroughly recommend.
