I am afraid I have never had a genuine American Red beer, so I don't know how authentic this is. However, I did not seem very red to me - more like a pale amber. Otherwise, no complaints here. Fruit, malt & hops in excellent balance with a nice clean dryish finish. It stood from a number of other beers sampled in the same session at the Market Porter that were notably unbalanced by too much underlynig sweetness. This undeniably has sweetness, but it is very nicely counterpointed by other characteristics. Handpump, Market Porter, London SE1, October 2003.

Fresh @ Dog & Bone, Gillingham. More amber orange than red. Slightly sticky sweet, smooth malt flavour, like an American Pale - and with the hop rush that would accompany an American Pale. Excellent dry, tingly finish. Quality & balance & taste throughout. Served in good condition. Nice one!
