Commercial Description:
The filtered bottle version of the 3.8% cask ale.
Note: This is not the beer that won Supreme Champion in 2003.
"Bottled with approximately 1/3rd less Carbon Dioxide than most beers. This results in a fresher more natural tasting beer. Combines Hallertau Hersbrücker with Challenger. Late hopped with Styrian Goldings, which gives a sharpness like the twist of a lemon."

Poured golden and clear with an off-white head. Bitter citrusy hops aroma with a touch of grass. Taste is very bitter and rather plain with a dry finish. Good for what it is, but one-dimensional.

Clear golden body under a fluffy white head. Nicely hopped aroma, strike me as being of the Noble variety. Butterscotch malt underneath. In the flavor the lemony, grassy hops take precendent. They combine with the light mouthfeel and medium carbonation to produce a pretty refreshing beer.

Marcello’s Wine Market, Baton Rouge, La. - 500 ml bottle. Medium gold pour, slighlty murky, fluffy white head with thick lacing. Tart, lemony aroma, some grassy notes. Tart flavor, some subtle citrusy notes, a bit of sweet biscuity maltiness. Mouthfeel is a tad thin, but ok for the style. Refreshing, not earth shatetring with flavor, but decent.

Bottle. Golden with a small off-white head. Aromas are floral, sweet pine hops with biscuit and traces of sulphur. Flavours are sweet biscuit malts followed by soft, dry bitter hops. Fairly understated to begin with but supremely drinkable. Very addictive.

Brown stubby bottle holding 500 ml. of bottle conditioned hazy pale golden beer, almost too pale. The head was an inch thick in my Imperial Pint glass, and foamy, but did not leave too much lace.

The aroma was understated, which I find typical with British imports. Earthy, spicy, malty, and hoppy smells were evident, but none dominant, not too powerful. The taste was clean and had a dominant spicy and bitter hop bite. The twist of lemon astringency mentioned on the label was also clearly evident. The malts presented themselves with a biscuit like toasty crispness and a light honey flavor too. The aftertaste was mineralized and dry.

This is an awesome example of a small beer (only 4% ABV) with a punch of big hoppy flavor. Not too subtle like most other British imports, this is almost like an American IPA toned down a bit. If you like hops, this is a nicely crafted Bitter.
