Fruity (but the right amount without tasting like a tarts handbag) and hoppy. Nice finish for a bitter to my tastes. Enjoyed it. maeib (4775), Wootton, Northampton, Northamptonshire, England

I remember this back in 2003 and it’s still really good. One of the new wave of hoppy beers in the UK. Others have come and overtaken, but this is still really nice. | 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Apr 25, 2008 Cask at the Brickskeller in Washington D.C. poured a clear golden color. Head was white with good retention. An impressive curtain of lace was left behind on the glass. Great looking beer. Very attractive aroma of grapefruity hops. The attraction didn’t go much further. Light bodied with a smooth mouth feel, as expected from the cask. The flavor was a bit flat and earthy. Cooked vegetables and earthy compost predominated. There was also a copper-ish metallic note. Imagine licking your fingers after sifting through a pile of old pennies. Yeah. Mild to moderate hop bitterness that peaked at about 4 out of 10. Sadly, this one had a lot of initial promise, but eventually fell flat on it’s face.
