Jan 3, 2006 Yes, this is the type of beer i want, i could have infinate of these, this is a really good beer. I cannpt believe im rating a scotish bottled non bottle conditioned beer this highly, but here goes. Aroma is great grassy/citrus hops, with a little malt character in there i wouldnt expect from such a low% beer. Taste is very flavoursome hoppy yes yes, the malt balances it balances it very well, bready malt too, which normally goes with nothing. Yes Yes!

Apr 21, 2005 Bottled, pasteurised, 500ml. Orange ambr beer with high carbonation and fizzed head. Thin bodied pale ale, over carbonated, with a thin malt flavour. Little of the expected hop note, pretty disapointing.

Mar 20, 2005 Bottle from Sainsburys, High Wycombe. Brownish with a thin white head. Aroma is heavy on the hops with floral and citrus fruit aroma. Decent body with some sweetness and a ton of bitterness and hop character for an ordinary bitter. Fruity and flavourful pasteurised bitter.

Mar 18, 2005 Clear orange-amber ale: good & dense off-white head, not very stable. Creamy nose, and at the same time fresh-hoppy smell. Very American. Some vanilla in there. WOW! this must be my hoppiest Scottish ale to date. This is great - real northern IPA. Caramelly undertones, but nowhere sweet. Light body, but I can hardly blame a 4.4% ABV beer for not being heavy - in fact, it seems more in heaviness, if not in alcohol. Aftertaste has some tobacco ash. Great bitter. I’ll have mine without the haggis corpse, thankee. Now, as to a pistacchio-stuffed leg of lamb, Moghul style, OTOH...

Mar 7, 2005 Bottled. An amber coloured beer with a hoppy aroma with fruity notes of tangerines and oranges, but also a bit of a stale sulphuric backdrop. The taste has good hop character but also some maltiness at the end. A good effort but really doesn’t taste particularly fresh.

Feb 9, 2005 Updated: Jan 25, 2006 Burns Night, 2005Bottle. Caramel, orange and fragrant hops. Marmalade. Quite nice. Some boiled sweets in the after-taste. Not over-fizzed. Flaws start to creep in, but certainly pleasantly drinkable. The upfront sweetness masks most of the stale flavours. [2.8]
Burns Night, 2006 Bottle. Plenty of hops in this Export (the Scottish name for a Best Bitter). Clean and bitter. Wakes the appetite. [2.8]

Feb 1, 2005 Bottled, from Sainsburys. Amber, good thin but lasting white head and good condition. Low caramel and pleasant hop aromas in the nose, slightly fruity in the mouth with a hint of roastiness and good developing hop flavour. More fruit and caramel sweetness in the finish with a pleasant hop bitterness.
