| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 5/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Dec 12, 2008 Bottle. Pours motor oil black with a beige head that leaves thick film on the glass. Aroma is thin, dark chocolate cherry with light plastic wrap and vanilla extract. Flavor is light smoke, wood chip, and it leaves with a thin whisky finish. A nice film of flavor is left on the tonge after every sip. Body is a bit too thin. Flavors, while noticeable, seem unsure of how to come together. In my opinion, this could stand to mature more. | 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Oct 30, 2008 Rich aroma with orangish and chocolaty accents, some mild dried fruits, caramelized sugar, liquorice, and woodiness. Dark brown with minimal head. Rich woody flavor of good long duration. Not a lot of complexity. Some brown sugar, chocolate, smoke. Single pleasant note stays on the tongue a long time. Carbonation is mild. Palate is smooth, not too heavy, but thick enough. Drying slightly on the finish. A decent winter warmer before bed. TheBeerGod (3171), Newport News, Virginia, USA
