Sep 24, 2008 Updated: Oct 6, 2008No 26779, Sept 07: Brooding black hole with some dark brown edges, it pours thick with a small head that dissipates quickly leaving behind a heavy syrupy body with thick sugar like effers. The nose is strong roasted malts, smoke, scotch, ocean sea salt, earth, peaty moss and espresso... it is evident from afar. The kind of flavors that dominate are soy sauce like with salt, smoke, whiskey, peat and bitter coffee... alchohol is muted and integrated very well, but present and it is easy to drink despite its sinister look and packaging... palate is heavy, but not syrupy thick and the finish is bittersweet saltiness. Definately more integrated and mellow than the EO Reserve. My 100th rating, next up the 16yr, then the 30yr.

Red liquorice aroma loaded with marzipan. Opaque black with a nice tan ring. Delicous almond/marzipan flavour with some salty hops and an elevated sweetness that is well offset by hops bitterness. Smooth, low carbonation, warming, slight dark malt bitter finish.

Sep 20, 2008 Pours black (black) with no head. Nose is oak, molasses, whisky. Flavor of roasted malts, oak casks, caramel and motor oil, tobacco (fairly strong here). Almost like a beer made from whisky though that doesn’t makes sense. Very oily. Long lingering oily smoky fantastic finish. Om nom nom.

Pours utterly black with a small, creamy, beige head. Aroma is vinious, lightly peity smoke, some tar and well roasted malts. Low carbonated, but a great creamy feel. Flavour is vinious, almonds, coriander, vanilla, roasted malts. Long, lingering, vinious finish.

Sep 16, 2008 Bottled@EBF2008. Pitch black colour, no head. Aroma is oak, vanilla, sweet malts, chocolate and roasted notes. Flavour is sweet alcohol, caramel malts, roasted malts, some chocolate and vanilla. More "raw" than the 30 I tried "on the side" of this one.

Sep 11, 2008 33 cL bottle. Pours dark brown with a fully diminished tan head. Dense roasted and chocolate malty aroma. Smooth and roasted malt flavour with a distinct tarish dryness and smooth chocolate note. Acidic bitterness into the finish with a lasting chocolate roasted base flavour going into the far finish.
