| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Oct 6, 2008 12 oz bottle, pours black with a ruby tinge around the edges. Head is thin, frothy, and tan and dissipates fully, leaving no lacing. Wonderful aroma of smoke, wood, bitter chocolate, whiskey, and dark fruits. Aroma is better than taste, however. Taste of smokey wood, roasted malt, bitter dark chocolate. Thin and oily mouthfeel. alexsdad06 (1101), Ohio, USA
| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Oct 5, 2008 12 oz. bottle. Pours a very dark brown/black color with a thin tan film for a head. The aroma has dark fruits, whisky, wood, roast, and moderate sweetness. The flavor has roasted malt, whisky, charred wood, a light hint of the dark fruits from the nose. I get a growing peatiness with each drink and I’m not sure that I like it. There is no carbonation to this at all. Medium to full bodied and a bit oily going down. joergen (8627), Frederiksberg, Denmark

| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 5/5 | 15/20 | Oct 1, 2008 Taster from a bottle at EBF 08. Naked, black body with display of laceworks on the glass. Peaty aroma of vanilla oak and spices. Sharp, initial whisky-like taste followed by liquorice and smoked malts. The whisky touch was more noticeable in this one compared with the variants aged in 16 and 30 year old casks (12.09.2008). Trev (886), Lakeville, Minnesota, USA

Aroma is chocolate roast malt, some molasses, vanilla and dark cherry tones. a whiff of alc.
Flavour is lighter than I expected it to be.
Mouthfeel is a touch oily feeling.
Very smooth initially, tangy sweetness, some smokey peaty tones towards the finish. Woody hop. Definitely a Whiskey profile as it warms more and more. Kinz (2215), Glen Allen, Virginia, USA
| 4.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Sep 27, 2008 Shared with Mike and maniac during Cluster Brew Part Deux. Black, slight head died hard. Aroma and the flavor were a match: coffee, chocolate, subtle cherry, booze, and a decided smoky note. Quite nice. Indulgence (141), Ajo, Arizona, USA
| 4.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 5/5 | 17/20 | Sep 24, 2008 Updated: Oct 6, 2008No 26779, Sept 07: Brooding black hole with some dark brown edges, it pours thick with a small head that dissipates quickly leaving behind a heavy syrupy body with thick sugar like effers. The nose is strong roasted malts, smoke, scotch, ocean sea salt, earth, peaty moss and espresso... it is evident from afar. The kind of flavors that dominate are soy sauce like with salt, smoke, whiskey, peat and bitter coffee... alchohol is muted and integrated very well, but present and it is easy to drink despite its sinister look and packaging... palate is heavy, but not syrupy thick and the finish is bittersweet saltiness. Definately more integrated and mellow than the EO Reserve. My 100th rating, next up the 16yr, then the 30yr.
