On cask at Churchkey in Washington DC. Pours a slightly oily, opaque black with a thin, spitty, off white head. Aroma is nice, boozy, grainy, toast, caramel. Flavor is better, both the whiskey and the beer come through: wood, booze, whole grains, pumpernickel, whiskey, sour mash, slight smoke, coffee, brown sugar, molasses. Finish is a little oily but otherwise smooth. Easier to drink than the 40 year. A nice compliment between beer and booze.

Dec 18, 2009 Black with some brown coming through, small beige head with little lazing. Aroma is inviting of lightly peaty whisky, wood, roasted malt, liqourice and light caramell. Flavour is weaker with light roasted malt, light peat and wood and liqourice with a slightly dry ending acompanied by lingering whisky notes. Mouthfeel is medium and quite smooth.

Dec 17, 2009 Bottle (33 cl) from Systembolaget. Mild roasted aroma with some dark chocolate and salmiak, and notes of whiskey and wood. Medium bodied, low carbonation. Well balanced with a dry and salty finish. Very much like the 12 year variant, much ado for very little.

Dec 15, 2009 Bottle. Almost black liquid with a small, beige head. Aroma is a bit sweet with notes of oak and a hint of smoke. Taste is sweet, a bit alcoholic and a bit roasted. Nice.

Dec 15, 2009 Bottled. Dark brown almost black with a small firm beige foam. Rich rounded aroma of toasted malts, oak, roasted almonds, prunes, sweet licorice and milky chocolate. Nearly full-bodied with strong notes of malt whiskey, oak, nuts, almonds and roasted malts with touches of anise, toasted bread and mild coconut. Smooth mouthfeel. Long aftertaste of wood, whiskey, roasted almonds, mild anise and toasted malts. Really tasty stuff for sure...

Dec 14, 2009 Pours a three finger brown head that leaves some lace. Black, no highlights. Chocolate/whiskey nose. Light-medium carbonation and heavy bodied. Flavor is smooth, roasted chocolate and whiskey. Almost a burnt chocolate finish. Bottled Jan 2009. Worth trying - $10.50 for a 330ml bottle from Tully’s Beer & Wine Wells, Me.

Aroma is moderate to heavy malty, roasted, caramel, smoke - peat, light chocolate, light licorice, serial soot ash notes. Flavor is moderate to heavy sweet and bitter with a long duration.
