Aroma:very mild sweet smoked dark malts. Dry cocoa. App: dark thin black pale tab head. Flavor: eh. This is from a tap. I was wanting more. It is good just a bit thin and not rich. It has a better afte flavor than flavor. Palate: thin and spritzy OA: nice good not great. Needs to be rich! And full! Like old would be. tlind2 (605), Helsinki, Finland
| 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | May 6, 2008 330 ml bottle. Completely black color, lasting tan head. Aroma of sweet roasted malts and coffee. Full body, taste starts with chocolate and rounds off with juicy malt flavor and a lot of coffee. Nice mix of sweetness and bitterness, a very good brew indeed! sm89walt (467), Norwich, Norfolk, England
| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 16/20 | May 6, 2008 33cl bottle. A pitch black beer with a fine, fizzy, tan head that deposites a decent lacing before dispersing into a single layer of carbonation. Deep and thicky syrupy aromas with notes of roasted malts and lots of chocolate. The roasted malts come strutting to the forefront when the black liquid hits your tongue, accompanied by its citric hop younger sibling, before softening into liquorice and fresh bread. A subtle, dry bitter chocolate finish. Fairly robust, yet soft on the palate. LooseCannon (936), Norfolk, Virginia, USA

Taste roasted malt and dark chocolate with dry and dark chocolate bitter finish. BlackDonald (1127), Boise, Idaho, USA

This has some dark fruits going on as well as some chocolate, and a bit of licorice and molasses, like its name states a very oily mouthfeel, but not overly complex, but quite drinkable, not heavy at all. | 2.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 4/10 | 4/5 | 4/10 | 2/5 | 9/20 | Apr 28, 2008 Eh, not a whole lot going on here really. Pours jet black, and looks nice, but too watery to remind me of engine oil. Taste is flat and lifeless. Like a mess of dark fruit and mud. Never balances out or finds a personality. Watery in spots. That compost comment from the rating before mine is spot on, lots of things going on here, none of them very good. jake65 (1725), Williston, North Dakota, USA
| 2.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 4/10 | 3/5 | 10/20 | Apr 27, 2008 Bottle: Deep brown with a smaller brown head. Aroma is full or earthiness, peat, smoke, and eggshells. Flavor is a roasty malt and smokey, but becomes musty and earthy. Kind of like it was stored near a compost pile... Not really what I like. hayduke (1680), Eureka, California, USA

Medium light brown head and good lacing. Nose of roasted malts with chocolate, coffee, and burnt wood chips. Very rich and creamy mouthfeel. Finish is like bittersweet chocolate. Very nice brew.
