Commercial Description:
Bottle: Filtered.
A superb, rich, full-bodied beer derived from a 1970s homebrewing recipe. Wickedly smooth chocolate dominates the flavour, which is nicely balanced by the bitterness of the hops.

0,33l bottle. Small toffee coloured medium head, flatteness fast. Aroma is sweet roasted malt, raisins, chocolate. Very dark reddish, almost black. Palate is medium thick, not much carbonate. Flavour starts with sweet roasted malt taste. Also hint of some vegetables.. peas or grass? Aftertaste is pleasantly bitterish.

11.2 oz bottle purchased at the Holiday Wine Cellar. The brew filled my glass as an opaque brown with a short lived layer of creamy foam topping. The initial aroma is a dark roasty malt presence with notes of fresh coffee. The drink is smooth and relaxed with a creamy texture and a flavoring of roast malt and coffee. Okay stuff to be had one or a couple of times.

bottle - Pours black with a thin tan head. It smells mostly of roast malt plus a little coffee. The flavor is roasted malt with some chocolate and mild hops. Medium bodied and light on the carbonation, it goes down easy. I’m a little surprised this rates higher than the bourbon barrel version as I prefer that one.

Pours out dark red with minimal head. Aroma is chocolate malt with a hint of merlot smoothness. Thick and chewy definite chocolate malt in the taste, but very smooth as if drinking wine. Does not have a wine bite in the finish, but instead a faint roastiness. Very tasty.

Incredible, thick, beige/light-brown head. Chocolatey aroma, some menthe. Taste dense of chocolate and malt, without being too sweet.

Bottled. Dark/opaque pour with little head. Nose is charcoal and burnt caramel/bad 2 year old fruitcake with some alcohol coming through. Flavor is dark/roast malt with excessively sour finish. OK but limited in dimension. Overall quite unimpressive.
