Enjoyable beer that does remind me of some homebrew in terms of mouthfeel and flatness. Chocolate, a bit winey, with a notable hoppy finish. A good beer. spectrex26 (9), Naples, Florida, USA does not count | 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Apr 7, 2007 Updated: Apr 19, 2007Bottle:Very enticing initially sweet aroma. Poured thinner than I would have expected from something bearing this name. A bit of a smoke aroma appeared after a short time. Body was sufficiently full, but much less so than I had expected. Started with a sweet taste and developed nicely to some smoky and roasted notes. Good finish. Good beer overall. littlecarp (128), Redding, California, USA
| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 4/10 | 5/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Mar 30, 2007 Pours dark w. a thin tan head that leaves a very thick lacing. Smell is a bit sour, but promising. Nice sour/bitter taste with a touch of sweetness. And a lightly sour finish. Not at all heavy on the tongue. psark (49), Binghamton, New York, USA
| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 5/5 | 15/20 | Mar 23, 2007 Would be good with icecream. Has a stout like flavor but less body. Very rich. Taste did not go with aroma. Tastes like a well managed forest (yes, this is our 14th beer we have tasted today). Umm, it coats the tounge in a really nice way. The malt dances on the tounge and sustains. CigarsLoveBeer (153), Illinois, USA
| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 2/5 | 6/10 | 2/5 | 16/20 | Mar 21, 2007 Updated: Apr 23, 2007Bottle: Dark body with thin tan head. Coffee, sugar cane, little raisin and a lot of smoke detected in this very nice aroma. In the mouth, this beer starts out very sweet, with molasses and sugar cane flavors, undercut by some smokiness and nuttiness. Very easy to drink. Becomes very fruity as it warms. When its cold, one can really taste the whisky aspect better. I found the body to be very weak for the style, in my mind the only major flaw in this beer. madsberg (4966), Søborg, Denmark
| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Mar 16, 2007 Bottled. Dark burgundy coloured. Dense light brown head. Light smoke, light roast, light spice, fruits and sweetness in the aroma. Quite complex. Flavour is raoasted, sweet, light spiced, has some brown sugar and vague smoke notes. Medium to full bodied. Nice spiced and light roasted end. Good beer. alexanderj (2263), Chino Hills, California, USA
| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 12/20 | Mar 15, 2007 Draft. Something just didnt click with me and this beer. There was a complexity of flavors; some dark fruit, sweetness, malt, and some roasted peat like flavors. Average to good body. golubj (1288), Sunnyvale, California, USA
