Dark brown pour with a modest beige tan that dissipates to a transient lace. Roasty aroma tending towards licorice, some caramelized malt in there, too. Flavor nicely melds the bitterness of the roasted malts and the bitterness of hops. Dark fruit, licorice, and hops aromatics meld nicely. The caramel-chocolate underneath that isn’t harmonized into the rest, seems a bit cloying. Medium to full body.

Bottled @ Peckham’s Beer Festival. Would not guess this is an old ale. Black colour, tan head. Very stout like. Aroma of roasted malts and chocolate. Flavour has roasted malts, coffee, cream, dark fruits. Nice one.

Bottle - 330ml. Pours an opaque black body with low carbonation and a thin, lasting brown creamy head. Superb malty/hoppy aroma with dark chocolate and roasty hints. Alcohol is well hidden. Its sharp, well balanced hoppy taste carries roasty, plummy and cocoa notes. Ends with a long, robust, warming bittersweet finish. Very nice!

Pours an "oily" black with small lacing that recedes quickly. Aroma is leathery, slightly scotchy, a little sweet, with a hint of dark fruit. Flavor is pretty complex, very roasted all the way around. Flavor is tarry, leathery, smoky, with a little bit of raisin/prune. I like the flavor a lot. Palate is again oily, with very little carbonation. Overall, very good.

~Pours pitch black with quickly disappearing brown head. ~Strong dark chocolate scent with leathery whisky and raisin. ~Chocolate flavor with burnt malts and raisin. Slightly sweet. ~Light velvety feel with bitter finish. ~Nice brew. Enjoyable and pleasant.

330ml bottle. Pours a solid black. Small light brown head that lasts most of the way down the glass. Aroma of Roasty/chocolaty. Somewhat sweet malty flavour of coffee, bread chocolate, fruit, finish with subtle bitterness.

12oz bottle. Pours black with thick lingering light brown head. Subtle aroma of dark roasted malts, maybe some dark cherry in there. First taste is a large hit of both light and dark chocolates. A bitterness slowly gains through the finish, but not too biting, enough to linger in the palate for a couple minutes. Full bodied. The malt profile is fairly one dimensional but good.

11.2oz bottle, pours very dark brown, near black, small light brown head, aroma coffee, chocolate, dark fruit,sweet sting on the tongue slight chocolate bitterness left on the palate. crisp finish. A good old ale.
