| 4.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 10/10 | 3/5 | 9/10 | 5/5 | 17/20 | Dec 11, 2004 Poured very deep and dark, nearly black, but some ruby highlights show when the light hits it just right. Minimal carbonation and an aggressive pour only stimulates but a thin head. Very intriguing aroma. Vinuous, woody, malty, fruity, extremely inviting! Taste is surprisingly smooth. Malty, fruity, woody. Raisins, figs. Wine/madira type profile as well. Ever so slight hops in the finish. This is truly a sipping beer. Alcohol is nicely kept out of the way. Quite an impressive beer to keep you warm on a chilly December evening! walleye (879), Sterling Heights, Michigan, USA

| 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 16/20 | Nov 26, 2004 This beer rocks!... Very dark, caramel-colored ale with a small, light brown head. Rich, malty, peaty aroma with huge notes of Scotch whiskey. Malty, pungent, whiskey flavor. Full-bodied and creamy with light carbonation. Lengthy, malty, warming finish. World class Scottish ale. Recommended!
