Commercial Description:
House beer of Cornucopia Restaurant in Eugene, OR.

The locals' favorite is our own house pale ale brewed by Charlie Hawk of Hawks Brewing out of Roseburg. So sit back, relax, and quench that thirst. Prost!

Note: also available in bottles.

Bottle (Thanks Chad): Pours a golden pale color, light head and lacing. The nose is lightly hoppy, a bit starchy with light sugars and malt. The flavor is fairly hop forward and dry but a bit of the malt shows through. Finishes a bit acidic and buttery with more of the pseudo-malt accents showing through the poorly accepted hops. Not quite what I usually expect from Hawks. Usually the malt body is much better than most other Oregon micros.

Beer pours a murky medium amber color with a small, frothy, white, mostly and quickly diminishing head. The aroma is malty with light notes of toasted grain; hoppy with moderate notes of grapefruit, resin/pine and herbs; yeasty with light notes of dough. The flavor is pretty flat: moderately-to-heavily bitter with an average-length, lightly bitter, lightly acidic finish. Husky aftertaste. The body is medium, the texture is watery-to-velvety and the carbonation is lively.

Bottle. Head is initially small, fizzy, white, mostly diminishing. Body is hazy light to medium amber, bottle conditioned. Aroma is lightly malty (toasted grain), moderately hoppy (grapefruit, resin, apricot), moderately to heavily yeasty (dough, sweat). Flavor is moderately sweet, lightly acidic, lightly bitter. Finish is lightly sweet, lightly to moderately acidic, moderately bitter. Medium body, velvety texture, lively carbonation. Too much vitamin B stink in the nose, unfortunately, which ruins the hop and malt scents (though those elements are fairly basic). Fairly well balanced, but a bit abrasive/citric in the hop department. Nice mouthfeel considering its low weight. Not very enticing.

On tap @ Cornucopia - This is the house beer for the above and is brewed by Hawks. A tasty little APA, with an oustanding malt character that is complimented by a nice array of hop character. Fruity and doughy, this makes a wonderful session beer when you are having some grub at this restaurant.
